The state of Maharashtra the political temperatures have been raised by the forthcoming Local Body Civic elections. For the Civic Elections the State Election Commission has announced the dates for the polls. The political parties which were already very operational in the state, for winning these elections now have completely mobilized their resources. The main political parties taking part in the Maharashtra Nagar Panchayat Election (Municipal Election) are Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, Indian National Congress (INC), and National Congress Party (NCP). The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has also acknowledged that the party is also going to take part in these local body elections. There are other independent candidates that are also taking part in the polls. The political parties are going out and reaching out to the people, who are part or who are going to be affected by the polls. The competition of some seats is very tough while on the others is very less and in some seats there is only one aspirant and for one constituent there is no aspirant at all.
Taking another step towards the Digital India the State Election Commission has now gone for online filling of nominations. The Candidates are now to fill their nomination papers online on the State Election Commission’s website. The candidates are also to print out the nomination form and attach the affidavits and appropriate credentials along with it and submission of forms will be done to the Returning Officer.
The Maharashtra Nagar Panchayat Election are going to be very complex, as it involves about 3500 plus seats of about 25 constituencies and involve 15500 plus candidates and all the above seats hare distributed over 164 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats in Maharashtra. Considering the complexity of the civic elections, the State Election Commission has decided to conduct the elections in 4 stages. The State Election Commission has announced that the first phase polling is to be held on the 27th of November, 2016. The second phase will be conducted on the 14th of December, 2016 and the third phase will be on the 18th of December 2016. The fourth and final phase will be conducted on the 8th of January 2017. The counting for the polls on the 27th of November will be done on the next day of polls and Live counting Result of Maharashtra Municipal Election will be declared.

There are 147 Municipal Councils and 18 Maharashtra Nagar Panchayat Election going for polls in the first phase of the Civic elections. There are 27 candidates which have, without any opposition, already been declared as winners. There was no nomination filed for one of the constituencies, the Shirala Nagar Panchayat. The

The State Election Commission along with the state authorities is taking steps to ensure conduction of free and fair election.
